We knew that if we were to make VR resonate with users, we needed a group of talent eager to push the boundaries of the typical fan experience. We worked with Big Boi, Miguel, and our team of influencer talent to produce an amazing array of live, 360º, bleeding edge content in support of the program. Throughout the 2016 season, our strategic combination of artist programming and digital influencer content generated palpable passion for Samsung Technology and opened up new and innovative fan interaction possibilities.

Superfly’s 360º content invited viewers to examine each festival weekend from every angle. The interactive videos completely immersed fans within the experience and provided them a one-on-one look at their favorite artists. At Bonnaroo, viewers followed Miguel as he led a pop-up parade, culminating in a flash performance. At Outside Lands, we documented Big Boi’s afternoon of mini golf, bike rides, and fan interactions around the festival grounds before he surprised an eager crowd with a pop-up show.

Superfly teamed up with popular YouTube creators, providing them unlimited access and Samsung’s 360º technology to amplify our partnership and give fans a look at their festi-full lives. From Andrea Russett’s helicopter ride over Bonnaroo and Sawyer Hartman’s game of hide and seek through the crowds of Outside Lands, to Shannon Beveridge’s heartfelt festival moments, followers were able to watch even the smallest detail.

In 2016, we put a new spin on the typical festival recap with Samsung Virtual Reality. “Follow the Unicorn” was an interactive viewing experience that encouraged fans to explore the festival while they hunted for the “Roonicorn”. It was a fun, immersive way for fans to relive the weekend and take the standard recap video to the next level.
