In 2002, Superfly co-founded Bonnaroo, globally recognized as one of the most iconic cultural landmarks of our time and named by Rolling Stone as one of “50 Moments that Changed the History of Rock & Roll”. An annual festival experience unlike any other, Bonnaroo unites 100,000 people on 700 acres of farmland in Manchester, TN, for a unique community experience defined by immersive participation, boundless positivity, and pure self-expression.
A Rite of Passage Experience
What began as a celebration of live music has grown into a cornerstone of the American music festival scene. Described by USA Today as "The culmination of a musical movement", Bonnaroo combines over 180 musical acts on 9 stages, the second largest comedy festival in America, a 24-hour cinema, a massive waterslide, a ferris wheel and a smattering of pop-up experiences into one weekend long rite-of-passage that must be experienced to be believed.
Good Vibes Only
Maybe it’s the fact Bonnaroo is the largest all-camping fest in the US. Maybe it’s the governing principles inspired by Burning Man and The Grateful Dead. Maybe it’s the unforgettable music and round-the-clock entertainment. Heck, maybe it’s the lack of sleep and endless sunshine that brings people together. Whatever it is, there is nothing quite like it.
The Bonaroovian Code grew organically out of the spirit of positivity and generosity that radiates from every element of the festival. These six guiding principles frame up the mindset for new and returning visitors alike, providing not just an ethos for the event, but an attitude we hope attendees take with them well beyond those epic four days in June.
Not Just a Feast For Your Ears
Bonnaroo was the first to raise the festival dining experience above fast food and funnel cakes. Our exceptional food programing provides something for everyone to savor, from the bacon flight at Bacon Lands to the expansive offerings at our Food Truck Oasis to our farm-to-table dinners. In need of an adult beverage to wash it all down? Stop by Crafties, our craft cocktail bar, or the Broo’ers Tent, which hosts the largest beer festival in the south, featuring microbrews from all over the country.
Snake and Jake’s Christmas Club Barn
The Snake and Jake’s Christmas Club Barn brings a little bit of Nola personality to the campgrounds of Tennessee, as well as an air-conditioned respite from the heat. Paying homage to our humble beginnings in New Orleans, our reinvention of this classic dive bar features all day DJ-driven programming, the infamous late night/early morning “Robe Rage” party, and yes, real snow. This barn holds a special place in our heart, and is a sure place to find the eclectic, the weird, and the colorful at any hour of the night.
Leave No Trace
Clean Vibes is a non-profit dedicated to maintaining the positive, earth-friendly atmosphere by incentivizing our community to clean up the festival grounds. Throughout the weekend, Bonnaroovians collect recycling, compost and litter in designated bags to redeem for prizes and exclusive giveaways. Over the past 14 years, Clean Vibes has diverted more than 5.7 million pounds of recyclable and compostable material produced at the festival from the landfill.
