What we’re looking for:

Superfly is seeking a Senior Accountant who will have strong accounting knowledge and operational experience and be able to work on financial reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.  The candidate will have uncompromising attention to detail, a positive, proactive, curious, team-focused attitude and a strong sense of ownership. Excellent problem solving and communication skills are also essential. This role will be integral to the accounting and finance team, and this team is seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on individual who thrives in a fast-paced creative environment.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Actively participate in the month-end close process, including:

1. Prepare journal entries, including working with other departments to ensure completeness of accruals and proper revenue recognition

2. Use reports from Payroll Department to prepare payroll entries with proper expense codes and departments

3. Prepare the trial balance

4. Prepare balance sheet and income statement account analysis and reconciliation, including fixed asset ledger, deferred revenue and prepaid schedules

5. Prepare cash flow statements

  • Create financial statements and related financial reports for review by Controller
  • Complete weekly financial flash report for distribution, including financial KPI’s
  • Maintain the chart of accounts with a supporting filing system
  • Agency program financial profitability, settlements and reconciliations
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements for various internal companies
  • Reconcile credit card activity for various company credit cards
  • Reconcile petty cash accounts
  • Maintain A/R sub-ledger to support order-to-cash process (Other employee prepares billing schedule, generates invoices to clients and applies customer payments)
  • Serve as the onsite first point of contact for the finance department to troubleshoot financial issues as they arise, reporting unresolved matters to the Controller as necessary
  • Assist with special projects including budgeting and ad hoc reporting to support rapid growth
  • Assist Controller and external tax accountant to comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
  • Assist Controller with the design and implementation of proper internal controls to ensure a high degree of completeness and accuracy of the financial statements
  • Assist Controller by proactively identifying, developing, implementing and documenting process improvements to improve productivity and scalability

Your Strengths include:

  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and v-lookup formulas
  • Superior work paper organization, attention to detail, ability to quickly synthesize and analyze data
  • Ability to work independently
  • Positive, proactive, team-focused attitude and desire to do whatever it takes
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Agency/Advertising experience strongly preferred

Your Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration
  • CPA or CPA path preferred
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles gained from a minimum of 2 years of auditing experience with a top public accounting firm
  • Minimum of two (2) years of corporate accounting experience preferably within an agency environment
  • Working knowledge of the QuickBooks Online accounting software package

Our Fall 2017 Internships will include opportunities on the following teams in NYC:

  • Agency | Social & Influencer Marketing - There's no I in Superfly, and an internship with this team will mean just that -- you'll learn how we execute social/digital and influencer campaigns across multiple departments here at Superfly. This intern will work closely with both the Client Services and Influencer Relation teams and will contribute in all aspects of project execution, including creative development (brainstorms!), influencer research/vetting, and campaign reporting/evaluation. You'll also learn the ins-and-outs of activating influencer talent across both agency and festival programs. We're excel wizards, culture nerds, and social media experts...so if you can relate - you might be the perfect intern to work with our team. Interest in a career within the marketing industry and knowledge of social/digital & influencer marketing disciplines is a plus!
  • Marketing - Our Brand Marketing team focuses on the creative and strategic integrated marketing initiatives for Superfly and it’s properties, including Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, and Cocktail Magic. This intern will review and help to create print and digital marketing materials, ensure websites are up-to-date and consistent, conduct research on creative marketing strategies, manage event image libraries, and maintain announcement schedules and timelines. Our ideal candidate is a marketing major with an interest in live events and festivals who is proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop & Illustrator), and possesses knowledge of file types, FTP sites, and website content entry.
  • Business Development & Creative Strategy - Our Business Development team is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the many brands that look to Superfly to help them impact culture. Our team is responsible for starting these conversations, brainstorming creative execution ideas, and vetting all opportunities for both agency and festival partnerships. The Business Development intern must be an excellent researcher, a creative thinker, and a super organized team member willing to go the extra mile. This intern’s main responsibilities will include assisting with concept ideation, taking notes in team meetings, and organizing materials for client pitches. This intern will also work closely with our Agency’s Creative Strategy team in developing client deliverables for active business. Ideal candidates would be immersed in the world of creative brands, with major bonus points for interest in sales, marketing, partnerships, and of course, music and music festivals!
  • Communications - Our Communications team manages Superfly’s media relations using strategic communication. The Communications intern will assist in coordinating PR opportunities through prep and scheduling, draft pitches, monitor media and social for coverage relevant to Superfly, coordinate development of internal and external company communications, and create targeted media lists. We’re looking for PR or Communications majors with a passion for writing and building relationships.
  • Programming & Content - This intern will split his/her time between two teams. Our Programming team books talent for Superfly festivals, agency projects, and internal events. Our Content team produces original video content across Superfly branded properties and client opportunities, from launching new media to developing original programming. This internship will be involved in everything from researching artist info, album releases and tour schedules to processing guest lists and credentials to assisting with in-studio and on-location shoots. Knowledge of new music & Final Cut Pro is a plus!
  • Corporate Development - Our Corporate Development Team focuses on exploring and evaluating new business opportunities beyond our traditional music festivals from their early stages to being green-lit. The Corporate Development intern will support the evaluation of new business opportunities by assisting to create and evaluate market research techniques and strategies to better inform the Superfly Corporate Development Team of advantages and disadvantages of pursuing different markets. Responsibilities include assisting in development project coordination, market research, research of new business opportunities, networking management including creation of one-sheets and brand overviews, as well as providing overall support to the Corporate Development department. Our ideal candidate has a business background with strong research capabilities, excellent verbal and written skills, strong financial modeling knowledge and skills, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and strong attention to detail.
  • Event Production & Operations - The Event Production team is responsible for building our stages, including rigging, sound, backline, video, lighting, aesthetics and more. This team seeks out and negotiates deals with production vendors and hires all managing on-site staff related to Production and Artist Relations. The Event Production team is a part of Superfly’s Event Operations department and works closely with the entire Event Operations team at our festivals. The Event Operations team is responsible for building our events from the ground up. Our Event Operations team focuses on everything that is not on the event stage; for example: designing the event layout, seeking out and negotiating deals with equipment and service providers (tents, security, etc.), hiring and managing on-site staff and making sure that all utilities are available to fans on site (bathrooms, water, etc).
  • Creative Production - Our Creative Production team ideates and executes visual, culinary, and non-music programming (think: magic, theater, comedy) initiatives and more for Superfly events, working with internal teams and outside vendors to create and enhance the experience. This intern's duties will range from creating and updating visual mood boards to updating our database of artistic references and inspirations to assisting the team with on-site on projects including art installations, theater, photo documentation, and more. Interest and knowledge of arts and theater is a plus!
  • People & Culture - Our People & Culture team consists of our office management and human resources teams. We work hard behind the scenes to make sure our team is fully staffed and fully stocked! Not only do we ensure the snacks are on point and office functions are running smoothly every day, but we focus on employer branding and maintaining a great company culture to help make Superfly an awesome place to work. Our ideal intern has an interest in business operations, organizational development, and/or human resources and a fascination with working with a diverse group of quirky, creative people. -Design - Our Design team leads creative conception and production of graphic design, experience/interaction design, and brand identity for our music festivals and client projects. Candidates should be enrolled, or majoring, in a Graphic Design program. Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator is required and a passion for contemporary design, typography and illustration is a plus! -Social Media - Our Social Media team delivers social programs on behalf of Superfly’s clients, our own brand, and our festival properties, and manages social communities across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram and Google+. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in brand canvassing activities to strategize on building client’s social media following. A background in digital, social or content marketing and a passion for marketing is a plus!

-Technology - Our Technology intern will support in the execution of all Technology and Digital Marketing efforts for Superfly’s festival properties. We’re seeking a web savvy individual who is in-the-know when it comes to current technology, ideally with a good eye for design and strong user experience. Our ideal candidate is working towards a Bachelor’s degree with a focus in web design and development, communications, or marketing. Bonus points if you have a fundamental knowledge of HTML & CSS, digital design skills, proficiency using core Adobe Photoshop and/or Adobe Illustrator, and experience with Google Analytics.

Highly detail-oriented and highly organized, this team is responsible for building our events from the ground up.
